John David Alber

John David Alber, age 88, died Sunday March 19, 2023.

He was born in New York City on February 23, 1935.

He is survived by his wife, Jean McEwing Alber; his children, John David, Eric William Alber and Eric's wife Lizette Alber; Grandchildren, William Alber, Isabel Alber Delhom , John Ryan Alber, and Christina Alber; and two great grandchildren, Beck and Pierce Delhom.

John received the degree of BEE from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute Troy, NY and an MBA from Hofstra University Hempstead NY. He spent his career at Grumman Aerospace Corp. (now Northrup Grumman Corp.) He worked as an aerospace engineer and Program and Logistic Support manager on many of Grumman's aircraft and Space programs including the A-6 attack aircraft, Lunar Module and International Space Station. Following his 40 years at Grumman he retired to his home in Centerport, NY and then to Cocoa Beach, FL. He spent his retirement years traveling with his wife Jean, and volunteering as a museum/zoo docent. John had a passion for learning and his hobbies included any subject from Formula 1 racing, bird species, palm trees, to space shuttle launches. Alongside his daily crossword puzzles (done in pen) he was also a proud member of the "Old Bastard's Club" and "Moose Club".

John and Jean were married 62 years at the time of his death.

John will be laid to rest in Mount Sinai, New York in the coming weeks.
