My thoughts and prayers are with the Allen family. I remember many days spent at the Allen home during my friendship as a child with Josie (St.Margaret Mary School days). Good memories for sure. I also remember your Dad from WPMH where I worked with him many years later. He was a well-respected physician and will be missed. Sincerely, Connie Perko

What wonderful memories fill my mine as I remember Dr. Allen. We were neighbors but more like family. We carpooled to school, had our own baseball & football teams in the yard between our houses, and went to SMM every Sunday for mass. Dr. Allen was my brother Jeff 's Godfather. When I moved to Virginia I didn't get to see the family as much. The last time I got to talk to him was when my brother died. He was the same Dr. Allen I remembered comforting and caring with the proper amount of humor on the side. I send my deepest sympathies to all the family and will remember you and Dr. Allen in my prayers. May he rest in peace and send you the comfort you need at this time. God Bless.

I remember how good Dr. Allen was to our family over several decades. He looked out for us as kids, ready with a bandade or a house call. Of course we lived next door so it never took long for him to respond. He helped guide us through the loss of our brother, our mom and our dad. He had a gentle heart and a generous nature. When I didn't have money, he found a way "to work it out". It was never about the money. He was a friend to my dad during the tough times. His family were friends to our family during the good times too. I remember many a sack race and watermelon fight just because it was hot out and a good day to have a picnic with outdoor games. To all of his family, my sincerest prayers and wishes for warm memories and an easy transition to letting go.

From the early 60's to the mid 70's the Allens and the McNamaras grew up in Timberlane Shores. John Jr, and I were classmates at St. Margaret Mary. My memories were of always playing outside (rarely did we see the inside of the house). We had a great time in that neighborhood. Dr. Allen was also my doctor growing up. The last time I saw him was at SMM a few years ago. We were both doing an hour of Adoration to the Holy Eucharist in the chapel. I cherish now that it was our last meeting.

I knew Dr. Allen as a teenager and he loved training & completing horses with his children. He was many things to many, but most of all he was a family man and healer. He will most certainly be missed by many he's touched. My condolences to his family.

My sympathy on the passing of John. He and I had a pleasant professional relationship for many years at Winter Park Memorial Hospital where we both practiced. I started practice in 1954 just before John came to town. He was a dedicated physician and a fine gentleman. Our friendly relationship goes back many years.
