I can't think of any actor who could have played Sgt. Taggart as well as John Ashton did, So great in Beverly Hills Cop films with Eddie Murphy, Ronny Cox and Judge Reinhold. Also really good as Mike's brother Roy in Breaking Away.
He will be greatly missed. R.I.P,

Met him years ago at a pub in Enfield and my mom knew his mom. Such a nice down to earth man and as always proud he came from my town. Loved his movies and he will live on in them. Thanks for the memories!

John and I both graduated from EHS in 1966. John was always a good guy in high school and well liked. He played the part of Judd Fry in "Oklahoma" that our Drama Group did in our senior year. I had a small part playing the sheriff Cord Elam. I got to pronounce Judd Fry as dead during the play. When we did the play for elementary students, they was big round of applause when I said Judd was dead. There's no round of applause for the death of John Ashton. However, we can all give applause and praise for the life that John lived. Amen.

I came to know John at several celebrity charity events that I attend annually. I was never a celebrity, but John always treated as tho I were one.
