Thanks to all you Atsalis boys for sharing your father. When KC lost his own at the age of 10, John offered to be his "adoptive" father. His kind and quiet but watchful eye was the guidance KC needed at a crucial time in his life. I will always be grateful.

Dear Marina and Atsalis family,
I can't begin to tell you how sorry i am to hear about pappa john. I found out after his services so i'm sorry for not attending. I feel like i just lost another parent. I was always excited when dad took me to charlies. that was how i first met john, harry and jimmy. Then even after that through the years and after my parents passed he still would open his arms and hug me. Marina i can't tell you how much i cherished that man of yours. He was an absolutely wonderful man and you both raised a wonderful and beautiful family. Tell John to say hi to mom and dad. Love to you all.

Mr. Atsalis was an incredible man and obviously a great influence on his children and grandchildren - we feel we knew him indirectly through his son Dino who is our neighbor. A lifetime of giving back to his family, community and country will be celebrated for years to come. For us, we will cherish our friendship with Dino, Leone, John and Michael and hope they find peace in this difficult time. Our love and prayers go out to the entire family. To the entire Atsalis Family I again want to offer my condolences and say a few words to express my fondness for you all.
Like my dads entry said, the 10yrs he worked at Charlies were some of his most cherished memories.Well they are mine as well.I have so many great and funny memories of Charlies and hanging out with my dad,Mr. Atsalis (Jimmy and John)and Mr. Ryan,Mr Vallone and all of their children at some point.
It truly was a special time in my life and one I could never forget.
Mr.Atsalis was a very down to Earth and classy man, a man that I've admired and man who's class and dignity still lives on in his sons.
Thank you for playing such a big role in what I consider to be a great childhood..God Bless You all.

Mr. Atsalis was decent and classy, like everyone in his family. He, and indeed his brothers, always represented the best of old Hyannis, a fun, bustling mini-city of people who were as elegant and generous as they were colorful. My wife and I wish to remind the Atsalis family that they and John will remain in our prayers.

My cousin Dundee was always such a quiet man. I never knew him well, but respected how well he lived his life. He married a wonderful woman and raised a family to be proud of. This alone is a wonderful legacy. It was with great sorrow that I learned of his passing. May God give you all strength and solace in this time of grief.

To Dear Thea Marina and all the boys; One of my earliest memories of Uncle Dundee was when he was campaigning and I went with my parents to Kemp's and Uncle Dundee gave me a straw hat to wear with a red and blue band on it. I looked up to him and said, "Wow, is he the President?" I remember his humor and class, he was a great and gentle man. Yesterday I had a dream that my Dad was running around getting all the preparations done for a big celebration with music and food, and he was saying excitedly "My brother is coming, my brother is coming!!!" My Mother was in the background preparing the food, and Mami and Papou were there nodding their approval. It was amazing! I have no doubt they are all together now. I wish we could be there with you. Our deepest sympathy to the Atsalis Family. David & I grew up with the original Charlie's Variety Store, Charlie & his sons & especially Dundee. David worked there as a young boy & I was a "regular". Little did we know back then that we would end up with our six & Dundee's six passing thru the halls of BHS together and now seeing the next generation at the rink & baseball fields. Dundee was a "super guy" & one of the Hyannis natives who will always be fondly remembered by us & many others.

Howard and I are in Florida but we wish that we were with you personally at this sad time.
The Atsalis family and the Penn family have always had a special bond, owning a family business and raising a family in Hyannis. John and Howard had many conversations about the early years.

That's a bummer, he definitely was a great man. He always had a smile on his
face whenever I saw him and such a positive attitude. He always used to
offer up a spot in his lot when I was heading over the island on the weekend
when I was at Plymouth. Please tell Chris how much of a great guy I thought
John was and he was a man who made a positive impact on my life. I will be
sure to stop by and see Chris when I come up to the Cape this summer (not
sure when that is yet).

John's godson Arriano (9 yr) loved him very much and is deeply saddened. We all extend sympathy to Marina and family for the loss of our wonderful koumbaro, who always had a hug and smile for the children.

Dear Demitrius and to all your family, my deepest sympathy in your loss. There is never a good time to lose a parent, but you are all so lucky to have had him for 75 years. You have many good memories to help you get through the sorrow you feel at this time. Blessings to all of you.
