John had a great sense of humor. He loved playing Pinochle and other card games. We have know each other since our days at FAMU in the early 70’s. We enjoyed brief chats after church services at New Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. He loved his family and spoke fondly of them often.
He will be missed.
May he R.I.P.

I knew Shorty Barnes for almost 50 years he was highly intelligent, passionate with a propensity to use every profanity in the book. I loved him like a brother and I am going to miss him. He was the epitome of a Real Rattler, he loved nice clothes, shoes and watches. He loved his family and worked hard to support them. Goodbye Block Man.

Simonetta, I am deeply sadden by your loss. Shorty was always family to us. Though it's been some time since we've been in touch, please know that he was loved by us. I have had so many memories of all of our gut-wrenching laughing sessions. You and your family have our deepest sympathy as you deal with the loss of Shorty. Praying for your comfort and strength during this time.
