We have been saddened by Pres. Barrus' loss. He was our first and only stake pres in Fresno east stake-- I remember soon after we moved there, meeting his wife and new baby in the Mom's lounge at stake conference. Always loved his fun attitude, and he had a very throng and positive effect on our oldest son, Erik. Thank you for everything President Barrus. Till we meet again-- a bientot.
Love from the Bigler Family, Arroyo Grande, CA.

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing, but am so grateful to have known and loved John and I know that one day, I will be reunited with John in the Kingdom of God. What can I say about John, that someone or everyone who has ever had the privilege of knowing John, has not said or felt. So I will say it again, as it is simple: "To know John Barrus, is to love John Barrus." I was fortunate to have known and loved two such men throughout my life, that could only be described as "The Nicest of Men"...and John was one of them. I feel truly blessed to have known and loved him. As Richard Herzog said in an earlier posting, "...It is his smile, that I will always remember." Not to mention all of my many conversations related to business as he was my attorney, but also our many talks about God and the glorious day we will really meet up with Him, when our time is done here on earth. John's time just came earlier than anyone expected. I will continue to pray for Anna Leesa and their family. God Bless!
My Mother Leota and my son Jake.

Mr. Barrrus represented me in Court for my Mother. I was calling him today to update him on my life and such....yet, in getting his # I found his obituary....I am deeply saddened. He never gave up on me or my Mother's case. I have binders of emails, information, alllll the court dates we had. I knew he was special, and before we would go into the Court Room he would say..."Sit on your hands if you have to, do not speak!!!!" lol!!!! He put up with those who were against me, and reminded me that all of our work was not in vain. My deepest sympathy goes to his family, friends, co-workers and anyone who was blessed to know this man. Sending prayers...

I first met John over 23 years ago. He reminded me of Abraham Lincoln, in some of the old movies. He always took his time with you, had that comforting way of talking to you, seemed genuinely interested in what you had to say and he always did this with a smile. It is his smile that I will always remember. My heart and prayers go out to his family; and as for me, I have another hole in my life, as I considered John not only my attorney, but as a loved friend.

John was a great example to me in my life. He was my stake president when I left and when I returned home from my mission. There are few people that I have ever known that I respect more than he. I feel lucky to have known him. My family and I will keep you in our prayers. "God be with you till we meet again."

It is not surprising that my thoughts go right along with others expressed.
Going back as far as I can remember (mid 60s), I remember John being very kind, gentle, sincere and wise. That would not have been easy considering myself and his other younger cousins.
John is one of those rare people that there is only kind, wonderful and fond things said about and now remembered.
My wife and I pray for the comfort and peace of his great family. May the greatness of his life soften their lose.

We were stunned to read in the paper that John had passed, especially at such a young age. John was a kind, warm understanding person, and we were delighted to be his clients for over 25 years. He went out of his way to make us comfortable during very difficult times. We could always rely on John's counsel, and we are grateful for his life. Our memories of John will continue to be a special part of our lives.
We will miss you, Brother/Uncle John!

I remember that John was always so nice to everyone. Although he was older, he was always kind to his little sister's friend. His sister, Michelle, only had nice things to say about him. He always seemed to be happy and have a ready smile. We are praying for all of you at this difficult time. We hope that this time of remembering what a great man he was will bring you peace and comfort.
