We met you when you first arrived in 2006 and watched unfold before our eyes your impressive paintings that grew and changed over time. We were so lucky to know you and we miss you still. Much love. Diane

Oh Roger, I wish we had connected recently. You were the kindest environmental lawyer I ever knew, and you helped me on my journey in this profession. All my memories of Roger center on his brilliant legal mind, his warmth and his courage.

Roger was the most thoughtful and articulate lawyer I ever met, and a continuing source of inspiration across many years. He and my wife, Kathryn Dickson, had a 2-person environmental/employment plaintiffs-side law practice in San Francisco before Roger's sense of artistry shifted from the written page to the canvas. He was an exceptionally principled man, something I'm reminded of whenever I see one of the portraits he painted. His ability to communicate insight was exceptional, in both of his professional callings, and thankfully lives on in his art.

Roger was also a dedicated mentor. I was fortunate to have worked with him in the early days of NRDC’s Western Office. He held us to a standard of excellence in all that we did that served as a benchmark throughout my career.

Roger brought a level of courage and strength to his work -- he was an inspiration and a profound example of egalitarianism in the law. My sympathies to his family and friends.
