there were times John and I would not see each other for years, but we would call, email or text each other every year on our birthdays. I would always kid John that he was an old man (as he was older). several times we talked for hours. I still miss my buddy and will think of him again every December 8th. Happy birthday bud.

One late summer evening on my bicycle, I stopped in at Johns to see what he was up to ... neither one of us had done anything interesting yet that summer and school was starting soon ... a couple of days later we were in the car driving to Colorado, we had a mutual friend in Boulder who we thought we could crash with. When we arrived, she wasn't there, so we drove aimlessly, camping off the side of the road, following rivers, climbing mountains, we had a blast... on the way back, entering Detroit on I-94, the city piling up around us, John looked over at me and said, man we screwed up, we should have stayed, we should have looked for jobs and stayed...yeah I responded we screwed up...Rest in peace John, I have lots of good memories, lots of good times. Cheers man, I'll see you on the other side ...

I am saddend to hear this news. John was loved by our family, especially by my mother. I belive they were in Book Club together in her golden years. May your family find comfort by everyone who loved John and who will be sharing their stories about what a great man and friend he was to everyone he touched.

John made a lasting impression on anyone who was fortunate to cross his path. I was the new girl at SHHS in 1968. John welcomed me and made me feel special. We shared many fun and crazy times and I will hold those memories & his smile forever in my heart. He was kind, intelligent, interesting, witty, athletic, strong, generous, passionate & loving. Sending hugs and love to his beautiful family.

So sorry for the family loss of John. He cherished all of his close family and will surely be missed. I am thankful for all my memories growing up with John and the Jahn dr. kids. We spent many days playing golf and 3 card guts in Brown's basement which I will never forget. It is sad to lose my childhood friend, but know he is no longer suffering and in a better place. He was truly one of the most kind and gentle people I have ever known.

Our hearts are sad. John was an easy person to know and love. His mild manner, loyal lifelong friendship, and soft voice will be missed. John´s love of music and people ran deep. I am grateful for the memories we made in our youth and the times we shared in Roseville and at EMU. Our sincere condolences to all. Patti Kukula Chylinski
