John Robert Boyle

The industry lost a good one. What I remember most about John was his kindness. Very soft spoken and willing to share his knowledge regardless of who you were. He will be missed and fondly remembered.

It was great to see John and Jane last summer. Many fond memories working with John at the Relay School and conferences.

I first met John in the late 90´s when I was in the early stages of my career. John inspired me and many others in the highly specialized industry of protective relaying. I eventually followed in his footsteps as chair of the IEEE PSRC Committee.

Besides being a great role model, John and Jane became good friends. Melania and I will always treasure our times together at engineering meetings and at their home on Signal Mountain. John was a character who could always bring a smile with his impish sense of humor.
