John V "JB" Brogden

I knew John as President of the 2%. Just now knowing of his passing. Glad to have known him.

Love and condolences to John's family.

I remember the first time I saw John V. I was in class in the old section of DHS & the class room door was open. I could hear someone marching down the hall way. Then this guy I had never seen before marches by with a German WWII helmet on. John V was a new transfer student & on the march to become the beloved & eternal president of The 2 % .

I ran into John V a few times, shortly after graduation ,& ended up going on a couple of impromptu adventures with him. Then decades went by before we reconnected on FaceBook.

He came to my house a few times & we started doing lunches together. We would talk for hours. It was a privilege having such a knowledgeable & well read friend that could speak intelligently on most any topic.

I was profoundly stunned & saddened when I was notified of his passing.

My heart felt condolences to John´s family & his many friends.

John V was truly one of a kind & a very good kind at that.

John was our undisputed leader while at DHS. We were in homeroom together where he kept us entertained with his unique witty way of discussing current events. This remained his delivery pattern, not to say he was just making fun as he always spoke about areas he had done his research on. He loved history and was astutely aware of our country repeating mistakes. I so wished I had made trips in to visit him in person but we did use social media to keep in touch. The world lost a positive socially conscious hero. RIP

John was a very engaged and knowledgeable community member. Our Maplecrest Neighborhood was important to him.

I learned so much from John about the state of the world and government, human nature and psychology, the Civil War , the beauty of Lillie´s and how good Georgia peaches are. And I learned how kindness feels.

John (Emma) was my friend of 50+ years. we spent many an hour together traipsing through old cementary's searching for civil war headstones and, finding quite a few. After wandering through many cementary's , we would spend another hour picking off 'stick-tights' and dosing ourselves with tick and chigger medication. Good times!!! We were both fans of Oliver Wendell Holmes and, John sent me several mementos of his trip to England and beyond. He was dedicated to his work as a counselor and parole/probation officer,...he took his job seriously. There are just no words to describe our deep friendship and, I will miss him terribly. I feel blessed that I knew John and call him my friend. I sincerely believe that John is resting in the arms of our Lord Jesus and, we will meet again one glorious day! So sorry to hear this. We lived in same neighborhood growing up. Blessings and love.

May you rest in peace John, you leave us with such happy memories of all those long breakfasts and great conversations. You will be missed.

Hard to describe what a true and great friend John was. Kind, as well as one of the most intelligent men I have ever known. We would frequently have breakfast together along with my wife Ellen Daly, the conversation was always interesting. I will miss my friend... Rest well old friend

I know we all have our memories of John! He kept life interesting. Rest in peace, old friend. We´ll miss you!
