John Cardone Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 25, 2025.
John Cardone Sr. passed on the morning of April 28, 2024 at his home in Windber, PA, surrounded by his loving family. He was 98 years old, born to Jack Cardone and Anna (Guido) Cardone in 1925. John is survived by his beloved and cherished wife of 73 years, Julia (Buckshaw) Cardone; son John Cardone Jr., daughter Tina Marie Cardone, daughter Nancy Ann Cardone, and son Richard Cardone; granddaughter Lillian Cardone and great-granddaughter Hazel Marie Cardone; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, John William Muha.

John was one of 10 siblings, and along with his parents, all have preceded him in death: Antonio "Tony" Cardone, Angeline (Cardone) Mucci, Sally (Cardone) Roscetti, Cosimo Cardone, Carmella "Connie" (Cardone) Pugh, Mary Cardone, Jack Cardone, Amelia "Millie" (Cardone) Reo, and Dolores "Baby" (Cardone) Costlow.

John was a master electrician by trade, a member of IBEW Local 5. His knowledge and skill of electrical work started with his service in the Army during WWII. John served stateside and in the Pacific Theater as an electrician, gaining experience in reading blueprints, wiring, and other electrical skills. John loved to learn, there wasn't anything he couldn't repair.

His hobbies included playing cards, Pinocle games with his friends at the Abruzzi Club, Black Jack and Poker at the casino, and Rummy at home with his family. He enjoyed playing pool with family and friends. John was a hunter and an avid fisherman, excelling at the challenge of flyfishing. He loved big band music and would spend hours relaxing to the tunes.

John will be remembered as a humble man and a great provider, steadfastly devoted to his wife, children, and extended family. He had a quiet strength about him, making all who knew him feel loved and safe.
