Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 4, 2023.
John F. Casey, Jr., passed away on May 24, 2023, at the age of 74 surrounded by his family at his home in Worcester, MA. John was born on May 8, 1949, in Quincy, MA, to John F. Casey and Dorothy (Bennett) Casey, both of whom preceded him in death.

John was a devoted family man who loved his wife Carol, children, and grandchildren deeply. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed exploring the world's museums, restaurants, and beautiful landscapes. He was a dependable person who made people feel safe and protected. This attribute encouraged loved ones to turn to him often for support and advice.

John attended Quincy High School and went on to study at Boston University. He also served in the Air Force, where he developed a strong sense of duty and discipline. For much of his 50-year career, John worked in medical sales, most recently at PLC Medical Systems, Inc. He was highly respected in his field and made many lasting relationships with colleagues and customers.

In his free time, John enjoyed traveling, watching sports, playing golf, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his wife Carol, children Timothy Casey, Jennifer (Casey) Rosen (Jimmy Rosen), Christine (Casey) Richter (Scott Richter, Jr.), Christopher Beattie (Morgan (Courtney) Beattie), Carol Ann (Donnell) White (Michael White), Michelle (Donnell) Doherty (Bob Doherty), Richard Donnell, 13 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Cheryl (Reed) Casey and a large extended family who he considered his closest friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 13th at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist in Quincy, MA, followed by a Celebration of Life at Bay Pointe Waterfront Restaurant in Quincy, MA.

One evening I was having dinner with the family and the phone rang. It was for Christine, who was maybe 6 or 7 yrs old then. Jennifer handed her the phone (it was one of Chris's friends). She clearly didn't want us to hear something she was saying so she turned around, inverted the phone so the mouth piece was up, ear piece down and began whispering into the ear piece so her friend could "hear" her whisper. John and I were howling about that one for a while. RIP John, we miss you.

I was saddened to read of John's death.
We had adjoining offices at Varian from1979 to 1985 when I left for another opportunity. Many times we flew to Palo Alto back and forth on the "redeye" to Santa Clara.
John always spoke of his son; Timothy and the times fishing at Connecticut lakes in New Hampshire. in those dreadful primitive log cabins.
John Casey was a gentleman. Thoughtful, kind, At times we did not see eye to eye but we always worked out the issue.
John is always the friend that you never forget. I was honored and privileged to have known him.
Deepest condolences to his family. May he always be in your heart.

John & I first met at Laser Engineering (about 1989?) where I was one of several people that interviewed him for an important position there. We became very good friends almost instantly. We went on fishing trips staying in the cabins in some of the Northern lakes in N.H and always had a lot of laughs and fun together. I became close with his family, staying over night on occasion after a great Friday night of barbecue, beer and watching Christine stuff peas up her nose. I watched Jen, Chris and Tim grow up, all with some of John's sense of humor. Everything written in his obituary about reliable, dependable, etc. couldn't be more true. He was a very valued friend that I loved and will miss dearly. My most sincere condolences to all you guys! R.I.P my buddy.

Carol, Dave and I are so sorry for the loss of your husband, my cousin and your Dad, Jen, Christine and Tim. He was one of my mother's favorite nephews. He and her would have such fun conversations in Aunt Dot's kitchen. He was a constant - you could always depend on him. He was such a great person to us all in Cold Springs every year. Always wanted to cook a big meal for everyone. He will be missed big time. Our thoughts and prayers to you all.
