Mr. Raymond A. Ermacor 1930 - 2017
UTICA - Raymond August Ermacor, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 8, 2017.
Ray was born in Utica on April 9, 1930, a son of the late Frank and Rose (Giovinette) Ermacor. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School. During the Korean War, he served honorably in the US Navy. On June 16, 1956, Ray was joined in marriage to the former Rachael Tomaino. They have shared over sixty-one loving years together, here in Utica, where they raised their children and grandchildren.
Raymond was a purchasing agent for Special Metals for over forty-two years, retiring in 1994.
A former member of the Sauquoit Valley Fish and Game Club, Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman from whom you could always learn something. His hunting and fishing skills were second to none. Some of his happiest times were spent in the woods or on Lake Pleasant, in Speculator, where a lifetime of happy memories were made at their summer home.
Ray Ermacor was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Once you met, you would be instant friends. Any subject you were discussing would lead him to say, "You know what? That reminds me of a joke" and he would have you laughing with one of his favorites.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be forever missed by his beloved wife, Rachael; his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Ronald Presite; his son, Raymond Ermacor, Jr. and his girlfriend, Pilar Lombana; his grandchildren, Christine Singe and her husband, David, Melissa Presite, Rachael Ermacor and Julia and Corinne Ermacor; great-grandchildren, Lucy and Joey Singe; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Michelle Ermacor, who was always in his heart; and his brother, Frank Ermacor.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from The Matt Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, where his Mass of Christian Burial, with Military Honors, will be offered. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday (today) from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica.
