I remember Mr Catalano as an extremely fair and patient man. As a student of WCHS, we would often talk about our good fortune of having him as our principle. I'm sure that he was the same in all areas of his life and what a good life it was! Thank you Mr C for being who you were....rest in peace my friend.

When either my brother, sister or I stumbled at school my father and John would talk, not in some stuffy office, but in Azusa canyon for a couple of hours of trout fishing. When my father came home issues were resolved and life moved ahead for everyone but the trout.

Mr. Catalano was an amazing administrator and a great man.

I remember Mr. Catalano as being my Drivers Training teacher during the summer during the mid fifties when he was a young teacher at West Covina High School when it was a brand new school campus. He laughingly called me "Miss Leadfoot" but he passed me anyway. I'm so happy he had a lovely marriage and family and I'll remember him fondly. I lit a candle at Mass this evening and said some prayers for him. I hope his family has lots of good memories to keep them smiling,

At holiday dinners we would stand while John said a prayer which he always ended with God bless the cooks
