Monsignor Caulfield said Mass at my husband's funeral in June 2013 and blessed the gravesite. Then he followed my husband to be with The Lord later that year. My husband and I loved, admired and respected him for his service to The Lord and His Church. God grant him eternal rest in His K ingdom.

Father John was so kind to me when I was in High School. I was having trouble at home and he was always available to listen and give counsel. I have thought about him often over the years. I know he is at peace now and with Jesus where he belongs. I will never forget you, Father John.

I Had The Distinct Honour Of Having Fr John Canfield As My Parish Priest At Our Lady Of Lourdes When I Was Growing Up. He Had The Kindest And Gentlest Soul! Always Had Time For Anyone Who Needed To Speak To Him, My Life Was Blessed Knowing Him. And This World Has Lost A True Servant Of God! I Have Many Memories Of Him Coming To Our House For Sunday Dinners Or Just To See If My Mother Was Doing Well. He Made The Difference In My Youth, By Caring And Listening.
You Will Be Missed Fr John.

I have never respected and admired a person more than Father Caulfield. He was such an influence in my life, and that of my mother. We joined St. Joseph's when we moved to Lakeland in 1996. He was just a walking saint. He taught me to pray "Jesus I trust in You" when he visited me in the hospital. I know I recovered because of him. He officiated at mother's funeral. This gave me such joy. His sense of humor was unsurpassed. I have missed him since his retirement, but now I will miss him even more, and will keep him in my heart, and prayers. Rest in peace Father Caulfield, In the loving arms of Jesus, who you served so well.

Sorry to hear of Monsignor Caulfield's passing. I grew up at Our Lady of Lourdes in Melbourne and my family was very involved in the church. I can remember many drop by visits Father Caulfield made at our house. Twenty plus years went by and I was at my uncle's funeral who also happened to be a priest and I was quiet pleasantly surprised to see him there to honor my uncle. After 20+ years he hadn't changed a bit. He amazed me that after all those years he still knew exactly who I was and that has made a lasting impression on me. His smile could light up a room and I am certain it will continue to up in the heavens.

my first fondest memory of father john was when i was a child growing up in orlando. i walked in to my very first confession, tears streaming down my cheeks, sure my fate was sealed at 7. the guilt consuming me. although he tried his best i was overwhelmed with shame. my confession was taking an extra cookie and not telling my mother. i remember the grin that crept across his face and i felt a comfort and then i was given penance and a hug. years later i moved to lakeland and i would have a new memory attending st. josephs. during mass as a grown woman having father john recognize me and having a good laugh about my cookie thievery. and the fondest of all my memories of father john was him being the priest when my children were on their journey of rites into the catholic faith. just to share that connection with him and my children and the holy father is so dear to my heart. it's amazing how small of a world we truly live in and yet our paths were brought back together. father john you will truly be missed. you touched my life in ways that are immeasurable. may peace be with you.

He was such a blessing to our family. Baptizing my children, marriages of my siblings... and the greatest gift was faith and love during a difficult time with my sister in law 23 years ago... he was at the hospital daily with our family and for years always asked about her health.
I am just returning to my faith but now remembering what he has done for me and the tremendous love he had for God and others gives me a much stronger feeling that I can accomplish the return to my faith and go much further than ever thought possible. He will be missed by all.

I am not shy to admit that I openly wept when I received Father Ramon's message that Father Caulfield had died. Although it had been over a year since I saw him, he was probably the most influential non-family member in my entire life. If you ever had a problem or crisis, just to talk to and be in Father Caulfield's presence was an emotional and spiritual release, and you came away feeling a renewed sense of joy. I shall always have warm memories of one on one breakfastes with Father Caulfield during a time of intense spiritual seeking in my life. Those breakfastes eventually led to my reception into the Catholic Church. We will remember his officiating at our Wedding Mass, the baptism of our daughter and my wife, his homilies, and his simple and loving presence. Father Caulfield is greatly loved by so many, and I suspect we already have an interceder on our behalf before God the Trinity in Heaven. I will stop now, because there are not enough words to express our love for Father Caulfield.

Fr. John will be surely missed. Father John has been a guiding man of faith for the family of St Joseph in Lakeland. I had a brief opportunity to meet him last year at St Joe's as he was honoree for Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Ceremony. He was a great man of faith and he will be missed.
