One of my favorite memories was the time about 1965 when Dad suddenly whipped the family station wagon around in downtown San Diego and motioned to a cop to follow him to a parking lot. He insisted the officer had committed a traffic violation and directed him to write up his own traffic ticket, invoking his right to a citizens arrest. The poor rookie complied, and gave Jack a copy of the ticket. (Not a joke). I’ll bet that cop told that anecdote at his retirement party!
