John Clark

John Joseph Clark II, age 55, was born on December 18, 1969, in Houston, Texas, to Jerry Herbert Clark and Nansi-Lee Smith Clark. He passed away on December 22, 2024 in Houston, after a courageous battle with cancer.

John is deeply missed by his surviving siblings: Deborah Scott; Amy Mery and her husband David; Laura Clark; and Christy Lewis and her husband Justin. He is also remembered by his stepmother, Henrietta (Polly) Clark of Cypress, Texas; the siblings of his combined family, Kevin O'Farrell and his wife Glenda (Sissy), and Lisa Phillips and her husband Ken; cousins Robert Smith and his wife Joelle, and Stephen Smith and his wife Gretchen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents.

Known affectionately as 'Bubbie' to his four older sisters, John brought joy to their lives from the moment he came home from the hospital just before Christmas. His parents placed him under the Christmas tree in his carrier, where his sisters declared him the best Christmas present they could have ever received.

John had a natural gift for music. He could listen to a song once and then play it effortlessly on the piano. He was a percussionist in the marching band in high school and also played in a band with his best friends called "Commander Sloth and the Hubcaps." He pursued higher education at the University of Texas in Austin, where he studied Electrical Engineering.

As a young adult, John faced significant challenges after being diagnosed with schizophrenia. After a struggle with sobriety and his mental health for many years, he was working to turn his life around. He was living and working at the ReCenter in Houston where he made friends and received the support he needed. Those who knew John admired his intelligence, sharp wit, sense of humor, and kind heart.

The family extends their gratitude to John's friends and support team at ReCenter and to a wonderful doctor and nursing team who cared for him as his condition worsened.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2024, at Cypress United Methodist Church, located at 13403 Cypress North Houston Rd., Cypress, TX 77429. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to a mental health charity of your choice.

Although John is no longer with us physically, he will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
