John T. Connor Jr. North Palm Beach - John Thomas Connor jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and accomplished lawyer, passed away on May 24, 2023, at the age of 81. John's presence and indomitable spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Born on June 16, 1941, in New York City, John was the son of Jack and Mary Connor. He attended The Pingry School (NJ), Williams College (MA), and Harvard Law School where met his wife, Susan Scholle Connor.

John practiced law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, followed by time in the government, including the U.S. Commerce Department, before embarking on a successful career as a corporate and international lawyer. He became particularly fascinated with Russia and its transformation after the Soviet era. John founded several businesses in and related to Russia including the investment fund, Third Millennium Russia Fund. He also published two books on investing in Russia. John actively participated in the Council on Foreign Relations and Democratic Party campaigns and events (especially in New Jersey).

His wife Susan was the love of his life for 57 cherished years. Their marriage was a testament to their unwavering commitment, support, common interests, and shared experiences. Their interests included traveling the world, sailing, playing tennis, music, and discussing history and politics. John was quick to laugh and sing and loved to tell stories. He was a devoted father to his three children, Seanna, Marin, and Josh. He adored his nine grandchildren, Madeline, Cole, Miles, Charlotte, Aisling, Olive, Lily, Jack, and Abby. John also leaves behind sons-in-law, Matthew Walter and Andrew Smith, whom he loved as sons, his brother, Geoffrey, wonderful nephews and their families, and countless cousins and friends.

Living between the Palm Beaches, Florida, and Cotuit, Massachusetts, John was an esteemed member of various clubs including the Everglades, Chevy Chase, Baltusrol, Wianno, Willowbend, and the Union Club.

John will be celebrated by family and friends at Cotuit Federated Church in Cotuit, MA on July 1 at 1 p.m., with a reception to follow at the Wianno Club in Osterville, MA from 3-5pm. I am shocked to learn from the Williams College Alumni site that John has died. As members of the Class of 1963 at Williams we were co-founders of the Ephlats singing group which continues today; we roomed together senior year; and we attended each other's weddings. While we lived on opposite coasts, we kept in touch through Christmas cards. Ave atque vale....

Susan. So very sad to see John´s passing. I have many wonderful childhood memories of all the Connors in Summit. And enjoyed our recent contact when he hosted me at the Wianno Club to speak about climate change. My sympathy to all of you. Frances Beinecke
