I am so sorry to read that John has proceeded me to the unknown. I am a fellow classmate of John's and also lived in East Braintree. We spent a lot of time at Watson Park when we were kids. I am very impressed with his life accomplishments, just OUTSTANDING! God bless John, I will be along shortly. Norman

Dear Betty, Denise and John D. and all family of our dear friend John V.,
We are so sorry for the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. He was also a very dear friend to us as soon as we met him 2011. Spending that Winter in Englewood was wonderful in many ways.
Yes, John was a prankster, but so am I.
We were invited to create an entry for their 50th Anniversary Photo Album, and so, I did.
This is how it went:
"Once upon a time there was a beautiful, very special young lady by the name of Sweet Betty.
She had a fascination with uniforms. Even the uniform of the "Soda Jerk" at the local drug store inspired her.
One day Sweet Betty met a different kind of "Jerk", by the name of John. He was affectionately known as, of course, "John the Jerk".
Betty was attracted to John because of his Roy Rogers (or was it his Howdy Doody?) uniform.
Sweet Betty also adored the tiara and knew that if the tiara fit, she would wear it, and so , she did - every chance she got.
In time Sweet Betty and "John the Jerk" were head - over - heals in love, him with her sweet beauty, her with his(Roy? or Howdy?) uniform.
And so, on June 23rd, 1962 they entered into marital bliss.
..............and that was just the beginning.
John will be greatly missed by all who had the honor and pleasure of knowing him.
With much love,
David and Ruby

John was not only a good friend but one who enjoyed talking about spiritual subjects. He was also a prankster and we never knew what whe would say or do next.
