Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 18, 2024.
John William "Jack" Davis, Jr., age 85, peacefully passed away on July 3, 2024, in San Antonio, TX. He was born on July 5, 1938, in Baltimore, MD to the late John William Davis Sr. and late Amelia (Lindeman) Davis. Jack leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, survived by his devoted wife, Carol (Chase) Davis; daughter, Laurie Cheves and husband Todd; sons, John William Davis III, and Andrew Chase Davis and wife Marleyna (Walling). He was a proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; an uncle to several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Margaret (Davis) Anderson and husband Daniel G. Anderson Sr; his father-in- law and mother-in-law, Willis S. Chase and Edna (Hughes) Chase, and sister-in-law Beverly (Chase) McCollister.

Jack grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, where he attended Patterson Park High School. After graduation, he played lacrosse at the University of Maryland and transferred to Capital University, earning his BS in Biology in 1961. He met his wife, Carol of Newark OH, while attending Capital University, and they married in 1961. He served his country during the Berlin Crisis in the Army's 92nd Field Hospital and transitioned to serving in the Reserves until 1967. He spent over 35 years working for the Food and Drug Administration, first as an Investigator and later as Supervisor. His job took he and his family to Richmond VA, Indianapolis IN, and San Antonio TX where he retired in 1998.

In his retirement years he dedicated his time to his family, his church, missions, and a hobby of ancestry.

A service to honor Jack's life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 29797 US Highway 281 N, Bulverde, TX 78163, on August 3 at 10:00 am in the Christian Faith Center. In lieu of flowers, donations toward the missions of St Paul, Bulverde would honor what he was passionate about. Jack's life was marked by his profound dedication to his family and his unwavering faith. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

Uncle Jack has been and always will be the strong, spiritual, fun, empathetic, and consistent rock of our family. He is deeply missed, but his spirit and life's achievements still surround us. God bless Uncle Jack.
