John F. Deef

Deef John F. Deef, age 79, of Becker, MN, formerly of south Mpls., died Thursday, September 11, 2003, in hospice care due to complications of kidney failure. He left this life holding the hands of those he loved so dearly: his loving wife of 57 years, Marge, and his two precious families: daughter Jodi and Dale Christensen, and son Mike and Kerrie Deef. Boppa's "bums" were his six grandchildren: Jacey, Johannah, Joel and Josiah Christensen and Cameron and Kaylee Deef. His family was his life and strength. He overcame many health obstacles over the years to extend his time with them. He is also survived by brothers Tom (Pat) of AZ, Dewey (Kathy) of AZ, and Bob (Mell) of Waseca, MN, and their families. Preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, and brother, Jim. John was born and raised in Waseca, MN, finding his sweetheart there. He served his country in the Air Force during WWII. He was an electronic technician, employed by the State of MN for 27 years in the department of Civil Defense. John and Marge moved to Becker in 1997 to live next door to Jo's family. He found joy in fishing with his son and grandkids, traveling with his family, and computers. He was a lifelong learner, driven by a vivid curiosity. His wit and sense of humor will live forever in the giggles of his grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 20th at 1:00 pm at the Peterson-Grismo Funeral Chapel in Monticello, MN. Visitation with the family 1 hour prior. Burial of his ashes in the Becker Cemetery following service. Memorials preferred.
