John Derer Obituary
Died: June 8, 2008; in Peoria
EUREKA - John "Jack" Derer, 66, of Eureka and formerly of Cary, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Nov. 2, 1941, in Chicago, to John M. and Dolores Skoblikoff Derer. He married Loretta M. Allen.
He worked as a licensed journeyman plumber and contractor in the Chicago area for more than 40 years. His energy, passion and spirit will be fondly remembered by all those blessed to have known him.
He was the beloved husband of Loretta M. of Eureka; loving father of Sandra Derer (Jeff Hauck), Laura (Joel) Jones, Rhonda (Mike) Cotton, Brenda (Paul) Hoffer, Melinda (Pablo) Garcia and Jason Derer, all of Wisconsin, John Anthony (Lisa) Derer of Cary, James (Sarah) Derer of McHenry, John Allen (Annette) Derer of Crystal Lake, Heather Derer of Cary, and Elizabeth "Betsy" (Marc) Blunier, Mary Anne (Jon) Hall and Faustin Derer, all of Eureka; devoted son of Dolores (the late John M.) Derer of Cary; fond brother of Michael Derer of Woodstock, Cindy (Bill) Markham of Cary and Judie (Bob) Miller of Ohio; beloved grandfather of 22; great-grandfather of one; and dear uncle of seven.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, 508 S. Main St., Eureka. The visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Eureka. The Rev. Michael Scherschel will officiate.
Burial will be in Olio Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Loretta and family:
Jim are I were shocked to hear of Jack's passing, we send our deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers to you and your entire family. Jack was a spirited man and will be truly missed by all that new him.

To the family- Our sympathy to all of you. My sister and I visited and spent the night in the ICU family waiting room (w/ Heather?) on May 31st. We are so sorry for your loss and know what you are going through. God bless you all.

Jack was a hard worker and showed all of us the tools of many trades. We are using skills today that he taught us then. He will be missed and we will keep all of you in your thoughts and prayers.
