I just noticed this notice. During my year in Ottawa 1988-89, between postings to Rome and Brussels, Terry and I had numerous great conversations. He struck me as being an excellent public servant and a gentleman.

Dear Gail,
I just read today of Terry's passing, and I send my condolences. I don't suspect you remember me, but I was a young scholar in Prague in 1986 and got to know Terry and later met you, Tony, and Katy at your home when Terry felt I needed a home-cooked meal. He served Canada with great honor and was also a terrific person.

Dear Gail, Tony & Katy,
We are so very sorry for the loss of your beloved Terry. We have special memories of his great humour & excellent writing skills while we were together at the Canadian Embassy in Moscow. He also welcomed us so warmly to the Canadian Club on the first Friday evening of our posting! As we were out of town we did not see the announcement until after the service, otherwise we would have attended. We send you our warmest wishes and hope that the happy memories will be of comfort and the great stories from Terry's many friends.
With our fondest wishes,
Scott, Liz and Ward Heatherington

Dear Katy and family,
We send to you our deepest sympathies at this difficult time and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Please take some comfort in knowing Terry was a great friend and neighbour and cared for very deeply by his Crispin Pvt family. He will be missed at our BBQ's, everyone loved listening to the fabulous stories he would tell.
Katy, remember we are here for you if you need anything, even if it is just to sit on the patio and chat.
Call if you need us.
Love,
Guy, Nancy & Melanie

I was a friend of Terry's when we both attended Carleton University. He was an M.A. student and I was a B.A. student. Terry lived on Second Avenue opposite my parents' house. We travelled with friends to Quebec City in February 1966 to enjoy the Carnevale. I met Gail Kirkpatrick at that time. I would like to offer my sympathy to Gail and family.

Dear Gail, Tony, Katy and family,
Our most sincere condolences and sympathy on the death of Terry. We met 46 years ago on June 6, 1966 and we shared many happy moments together in those early years in External Affairs. Terry served his country with distinction and we will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
