We met John and Dale while visiting Kate and Paul in july. We had such fun including a tour of Devonshire Manor and a delicious dinner prepared by john. We can't remember feeling such a warm, fun, and special connection with anyone in such a short period of time. We are so grateful for having that time together. He will remembered by us as a family loving, welcoming, fun person and excellent cook who so enhanced the pleasure of our brief visit he will be sorely missed.

I worked with John for many years as a referee for the South Shore Soccer League. He was always great to work with and was always a gentleman. Very sorry for your loss

John was an amazing person. He was kind, full of good advice, compassion, and humor. When I think back, I have lots of little memories which bring me joy at the thought of him. I remember when his daughter Victoria was born and he handed me a chocolate cigar to celebrate it. I also remember the time my front door knob broke and he helped to replace it.
He played my uncle in chess and back in the day he had a great collection of Vic-20 games he would let me borrow.
I also remember him letting Kate use his car. His comic collection and Ben showing me the first appearance of Wolverine in the Hulk.
His good humor and personality will live on in his family and friends. He was a wonderful father and husband worth emulating. He boldly lived full and rich life and I'm grateful I knew him.

Practically every time I had the chance to be around him. The man was always laughing and trying to get a laugh out of others

I haven't been able to really write anything about Daddy yet because I still can't comprehend. How does one put into words losing a Legend.
You and Mommy had a plan - and whenever you had a plan, we all knew it was going to come true.
From a tiny age I remember always hearing that you were going to buy that Victorian house on coast for you and Mommy and garden in your retirement. You were supposed to live until at least 90, be a old cranky man, with a stylish hat and walking cane, harassing all your second favorite daughters.
There is so much more I want to say, Dad, but right now I have to focus on the logistics for the banging party we are going to have in your honor. This one is going to be for the ages. I know how much you love entertaining guests and I don't want to disappoint you.
John Devonshire 's Celebration of Life Party is going to be on 17 August 2024 at 2pm at the Port Authority.
Daddy wasn't a traditional guy. And that's why this isn't going to be a traditional thing. We are going to do it Dad Devonshire style - wear your gray sweatshirts and dapper hats and get ready to laugh, drink whiskey, and share stories about the Man, the Myth, the Legend, the DAD, John Devonshire.
I love you Daddy.

I never had a chance to meet John, but his daughter Kate always described him as " the mad scientist type, he even has a cat lol". From that moment on I named him Dr. Claw. I'm so sorry for everyone's loss, the world will not be the same without Dr. Claw.

When didn´t he make me laugh or smile? His jubilant demeanor made everyone around him laugh and smile. John will be missed by many and his loss is deep. I absolutely adored him.
