JOHN FRANCIS DION Jr.

DION, John Francis Jr. 69, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Born in Springfield, he was the son of Agnes (Dufault) Dion of East Longmeadow and the late John Dion. John grew up in East Longmeadow and was a proud Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for many years as a Corrections Officer at Bridgewater State Hospital. An avid gardener and New England sports fan, he particularly loved the Pawtucket Red Sox, Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Teresa (Sheehan) Dion of Brockton, his three children; Jeremy Dion and his wife Nicole of Easton, MA, Amanda Lynch and her husband Stephen of Berkley, MA and Nathan Dion and his wife Ruth of Lincoln, RI, his brother Christopher Dion and his wife Nora of East Longmeadow, two sisters; Rosemary Daley of West Simsbury, CT and Maryann Spillane and her husband Dennis of Westwood, MA, and three cherished grandchildren; Gracen, Charlie and Ashton. Family and friends may meet for John's Funeral Mass on Monday, January 9th at 11:30 am at St. Michael's Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 1:00 pm at MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
