John F. DONLAN Jr.

Add memories that will last forever

Not sure what to say?

December 26, 2019

My deepest condolences to the Donlan family. I just learned today that Jack passed on a year ago. Our family was not aware that he died and we all feel terrible that we missed his funeral. Jack was truly a special person. My mother thought the world of him and considered him almost like a brother. He was in the room when she died and he was softly praying the rosary when she passed. My father, George, also loved Jack and they were great buddies at Southview Senior Living. I remember one time I went to visit my father at Southview and I couldn't find him in his room. I went to the nurse and she suggested that I go to Jack's apartment. I found my father asleep on Jack's couch. The television was on and Jack must have left the room and took a nap in the other room. It was nice that they had each other for a few years until my father died. Jack was an amazing person with a zest for life. I was always impressed by how he knew everyone's name in our family (even grandchildren, spouses, etc.). May you all cherish the memories of John and hold him close to your heart. Love, MaryPat Gibbs

To Sharon, Mike, Kevin, Tim and Dan--

Our deepest sympathies on the loss of your amazing Dad. He is a remarkable man and was such a caring neighbor. Always smiling and that twinkle in his eyes!
Jack (Petroskey) is so grateful for the extensive research your Dad undertook to help Jack locate his uncle's gravesite in Belgium.
With prayers and warm thoughts to all of you and your families.

I first remembered John and Gert at Loaves & Fishes, and then later when he & Tim worked for me and Bob Pfoser always showing up & making me meatballs. I wish the family all the best.

Uncle Jack, as he was known to the Still family, will be greatly missed, and we all mourn his passing and the loss of such a great friend. Our memories of him are deep and long lasting, including his love for picnics, neighborhood parties, a good book, scouting, history, travel, photography, Notre Dame football, army reunions, a hot cup of coffee, a cold beer. A man of so many interests and talents, but most of all we will remember his smile, warmth and kindness, and all of the Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, birthday, open house and family celebrations that the Stills shared with the Donlans for decades.

From all of the Stills, our most sincere sympathy and condolences to the Donlan family.

John was an interesting character who entertained all of us with stories of travel and adventure. I really enjoyed his tales of traveling in Ireland. John loved family anf friends and will be greatly missed.

Dear Sharon, Michael, Kevin, Tim, and Daniel, I am thinking and praying for all of you and your families at this time of loss. Jack was one of the kindest people I've ever met-always smiling and always expressing his concern for others. What a great friend he was to my mom and dad. Childhood memories of Vern at the piano, Russ on the guitar and Melvin and Jack singing are so precious. The St. Patrick's Day quartet is together again in heaven. May Jack rest in peace.
