John DOSSETOR Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Bernard Dossetor of Ottawa announces his passing on June 24, 2015 at the Ottawa Civic hospital. He died peacefully surrounded by his family, leaving behind his darling daughter Kate to whom he was extremely devoted, and loving wife Ellen Power. He was predeceased by daughter Hilary. John was born in Montreal and was the cherished son of Dr. John and Margaret Dossetor and beloved brother of Frances (Brian O'Kelly), Clare (Paul McEachern) and Moira (Michael Dila), and many loving nieces and nephews. John loved the warmth of family life, his yellow lab Booster, beautiful garden, birds and home. John's sense of humour and charisma endeared him to many people, and his untimely passing leaves a great emptiness. The family wishes to express gratitude to the health care teams on floor A5 and the ICU at the Civic Campus, The Ottawa Hospital. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor) Ottawa on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 194 Fourth Ave, Ottawa on Monday, June 29 at 10:00 am. Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

I only just learned of John's passing, and although it is almost one year ago, I want to express my sincere sympathy for your loss. I was a colleague of John's when I first moved to Ottawa -- I appreciated his sense of humour, his intelligence and his practical approach to problem solving -- he was a wonderful colleague -- I was saddened to learn of his passing.

I worked with John for a few years that included some travel together in Europe. He was a great guy and always fun and interesting. Im sad to find out that he is no longer with us.

I recently learned of John's passing through a friend. I have known John since high school and he was one of my favorite people in this world. While I didn't get to see him often, we did manage to connect every few years while one of us was on a business trip or for some other reason. I will miss his intellect and his wry sense of humour. My condolences on your loss and best wishes for your family.

I knew John from High School and last talked to him at our 30th reunion. We talked about the sadness we felt over the passing of a classmate. Difficult for me to think this was a harbinger for yet another classmate passing. From high school days, I admired John for having the confidence to be true to himself. I think, based on our chat, that had not left him.
It is truly sad we lost a really good guy. My sympathies to the family and friends.

This is such sad news. I worked with John in the office of the Honourable Allan Rock and John was so great to work with.
