John R. Dyer, passed away at Hospice of Dayton on June 27, 2024. Born on January 19, 1949, in Dayton, he lived a fulfilling life surrounded by love and cherished memories.

John proudly served in the US Army 1969 to 1970 during the Vietnam War and continued camaraderie as a member of the VFW Post 3283. His commitment to his country paralleled his commitment to his community. He worked as an engineer throughout his career for many years and then retired from the United States Postal Service.

Graduating from Wayne H.S. in the class of 1967 and attending Sinclair College showcased John's thirst for knowledge and personal growth. His passion for learning extended beyond academics into his professional endeavors and personal hobbies.

Throughout his life, John found joy in tending to his garden, worshipping at Parklayne First Church of God, and reconnecting with fellow veterans at Vietnam Americal Division reunions. However, nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his beloved grandchildren Landry and Juliana.

In addition to his grandchildren, John is survived by his loving wife, Belva Green; devoted son, Brad (Jessica) Dyer; step-son, Jason Green; grandchildren, Juliana and Landry Dyer; caring brother, Richard Dyer; supportive sister, Martha (Ron) Horecki; nephews, Doug (Dawn) Dyer, Dylan (Kellie) Dyer, Cole Dyer, and Chris Buchanan; nieces, Kayla Dyer and Laura (Steve) Shneider; great-niece, Rachel Shneider; as well as friends, Phil & Sherri Cabreos, Tony Wilkerson, and Kenny Howard.

He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Dyer and mother, Creedirvine Dyer. Despite the sorrow felt at his loss by all who knew him, John leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will be forever cherished.
