John Eiler MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Travis John Eiler, age 23, entered into Heaven on Friday, December 2, 2011 while serving God's Kingdom abroad. The son of Eric and Danielle Eiler and older brother of Corbin and Austin, he was born in Myrtle Beach, SC on June 16, 1988. Travis graduated from Socastee High School with perfect attendance from K-12, sang with the Socastee Singers, lettered in track and cross country, receiving the Brave Award in both sports. A 2008 graduate of Spartanburg Methodist College, he received the General Award of Excellence for being the top all around male student in Academics, Sports, Community Service and Leadership and was recognized as an All American Academic Athlete. A 2010 graduate of Southern Wesleyan University, he earned his BA in Sports Management. He received full academic and sports scholarships all four years for running track and cross country and made the Deans List each semester. Surviving, in addition to his parents and brothers, are his paternal grandparents John Eiler of Florence, SC and Darla Eiler; maternal grandfather, James Edward Reed (Sharron) of Clearwater, FL; aunts and uncles, Jim Reed (Robin) of Akron, OH, Bob Reed (Maureen) of Wallingford, CT, Michelle Reed Smith (James) of Murrells Inlet, Greg Eiler (Marie) of Culloden, WV, Gwen Eiler Hopkins (Freddie) of Ringold, VA and their families; and a special Granny, Annette DeCilles Hurston (Bill) of Myrtle Beach. Maternal grandmother, Nancy DeCilles Reed preceded him in death in 1993. An active, charter member of Palmetto Shores Church, a Celebration of His Life will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Socastee High School with Rev. Ronny Byrd officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made locally to The Travis Eiler Memorial Fund at Conway National Bank in order to establish a foundation to carry on his life's work of serving the Lord. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
