John Richard Evans was 65 years old when he passed away in his sleep in the early morning hours at the ICU at the Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his loving wife, Colleen; children, Jeremiah (Leticia), Jesse (Jofresh), Joel (Robin); grandchildren, Nathanael, Julianna, and Jack; siblings, Dan (Sibyl), Janet, Laura Gomez, Susan Fernandez (Mark); mother, Mona; brothers in spirit Jim Sodaberg, Steve Gregg, Tom Ray; and many more extended family members, colleagues, and friends too numerous to list.
John was a compassionate and loving father and husband. He married his wife Colleen on October 4, 1975 and was blessed to enjoy nearly 46 years by her side. He was a well respected and sought after accountant, known amongst his colleagues for his work ethic and dedication to his trade. His aptitude and work ethic in accounting lives on in his son Joel. He loved the outdoors - hiking, backpacking, camping, bicycling, and mountaineering were amongst the things he enjoyed most in his life. Among his favorite memories were his climbing of Mount Shasta and Whitney with his brother Dan and son Jeremiah, as well as his solo hike from the base of and to the top of Pikes Peak in a single day. A part of his love of the outdoors was a deep love of the art of photography, which he shared with his son Jesse. Above all else, John was a selfless and giving man, to both his family, and to his friends and even strangers in need. His presence in this world will be deeply missed.
A mass will be held on Saturday, July 10 at 10:00am at Queen of Apostles, 4911 Moorpark Ave, San Jose.
