To Shirley, Richard and family,
John was always a very special person in my life. He assisted me purchasing my family home by buying my Citroen (without a trade-in)back in 1973-4. This life-changing action gave me the deposit for the home. For this, and many other special times (during the 70's) I had with John, I will always be grateful. Thinking of you all at this very difficult time. David Thomas

Farewell John. Thanks for the opportunities you gave me in motor racing, the laughs and your dry sense of humour. The motor industry will miss you in Christchurch along with the rest of the country for that matter. Condolences to the family.

A man for all seasons
A prince with the common touch
A driving businessman with a sense of fair play
An entrepreneur tempered by long term vision
A life lived to the limit of creativity and exploration
A man with three siblings who held him close
A man blessed with a wife who became his touchstone

Farewell Johnny. You were loved by many.
Thank you Shirley and Richard for sharing him with so many

To Shirley, Richard and family.
We wish to pay our respects to a wonderful man, company owner, and boss.
Staff weren't just staff. We were family and as such many, and they were often, family occasions happened as often as possible Wings and Wheels to support Ray and so on. Our wedding cars were provided with generosity as was a luxurious wedding gift. John's staff were personal to him and we were valued.
When he bought Archibald's from Ray and Kate Archibald, he chose to continue with the example Ray left him with. John was cut from the same sort of cloth as was Ray. That's quite a legacy and in saying such, it's fair to say that Ray just passed the baton on. Bless you John. Ray will have met you at the Pearly Gates with such pride and thanks.
