John William Fauver, 90, of Bloomfield Hills and Vero Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on October 29, 2012. Through the years, John embraced a life rich in educational, business and philanthropic pride. While earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, John presided over both the Inter Fraternity Council and the Vulcans Engineering Society. Following his graduation, John served on the University of Michigan's Detroit Chapter of its Board of Governors and enjoyed more than six decades attending U of M football and basketball games. John's longstanding business career centered on the variety of roles he held at the J.N. Fauver Company, an industrial distribution services company founded by his father. An expert in marketing and sales, John managed company operations until his retirement in 1983. Through it all, John always remembered his upbringing in Highland Park, Michigan with great humility and appreciation, which was a driving force behind his many community and philanthropic efforts. From presiding over the Rotary Club and serving two terms as Mayor of Bloomfield Hills, to his work as a Board member of the Beaumont Hospital Foundation, John always looked for ways to improve the quality of life for those around him. The Boys & Girls Club organization held a special place in John's heart and benefitted greatly from his generosity. He was an active member of the Southeastern Michigan Chapter for more than fifty years, serving as president in 1972. John and his good friend Nick Martin, who were recently honored by the Women's Association, funded the complete renovation and expansion of the Highland Park Boys & Girls Club which now proudly bears the name the Fauver-Martin Club. John's philanthropic commitment extended to his community in Florida where he was instrumental in establishing the first Boys & Girls Club in Indian River County. Additionally, as a member of the John's Island Club in Vero Beach, John founded the John's Island Foundation which provides much needed grants to local charities.
