John was the greatest. Proud to call him a friend. Met in Cozumel many years ago and had several Cozumel reunions. Most recently in March knowing his situation. We reminisced, told stories and laughed while appreciating nature. John took that sunset picture. Have many others from previous trips. One evening a family of three generations wanted a family group sunset shot. John volunteered. Little did they know.
To John´s family: please accept my deepest condolences and sympathies. I hope you can always remember and treasure his energy passion and creativity that he shared with all who cared. He truly made a difference.
Sincerely,
Ned Branthover

You were a friend and a champion of the wilderness throughout CO and the world we love. I often reminisce about our travels through the backcountry by foot, hoof, and ski. I miss you, my friend. I'm sorry we didn't reconnect sooner. Happy trails.

I remember John Fielder when I took one of his wildflower workshops in Crested Butte in 2005. A couple of years prior to that he was my "subject" for an MBA Marketing report (Regis Univ). He was a kind, gentle man and was a patient teacher.
