John Foley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 17, 2022.
John J. Foley Jr., 60, passed away at his residence, Tuesday November 15, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania in 1962, he was the son of John Foley Sr. and Mary Foley. He was a devoted husband to Michelle "Shelly" (Rodgers) Foley, with whom he shared 21 years of love and 17 years of marriage. John graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School and then went on to attend West Chester University where he would graduate with a degree in Business. He spent most of his career in the inter-modal transportation industry, most recently, he worked for Land Transportation, Bethlehem, PA. John was the definition of a proud and devoted family man and loved nothing more than spending time with his family, and particularly loved vacationing with them in Ocean City, NJ. During his free time, he always had his nose buried in a science fiction or fantasy novel. To this day, his walls are lined with every book he has read since childhood. John was a knowledgeable rare coin collector who could often be found at auctions bidding to expand his collection. John was an enthusiastic Philadelphia sports fan, particularly rooting for the Eagles and Phillies. John had a lifelong love of basketball, playing for his high school varsity team as well as playing intramural in college, then going on to coach his children in basketball for many years. John's warmth, loyalty, and humor was enjoyed by many dear and long-term friends with whom he loved sharing a beer. In addition to his wife Shelly, and parents John and Mary, John is survived by his daughter Kierra Anne Foley of Philadelphia, and his sons Kevin William Giltz (Sabrina) of Hawley, PA and Justin Christopher Giltz of Pittston, PA, brother Michael Foley, and sister Margaret Foley.

Services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 10:30 AM, at Stephens Funeral Home, 274 N. Krocks Rd. Allentown, PA 18106. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30.

So sorry to hear of the passing of my old Dayton Road fishing buddy John Foley. Never underestimate what two six-year-olds can accomplish with a piece of bacon, a branch off an oak tree and a fishing hook. God bless John´s family and all those that loved him for the wonderful person that he is.
