The photo of my High School Friend says it all. That add mile never left his face.He was one of the rare " bridge builders" whose Christian outreach crossed all racial barriers as he purposely reached out to others. We were baseball teammates and he would crack jokes constantly. Laughter was always wherever He was. At reunions he would run to hug me and lift me off the ground. The sight of his photo and obituary here has reminded me what a dear friend he was to so many people.

Sylvia, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your sweet husband, Marcus. It's been a good while since I've seen the two of you but we always shared a laugh as we remembered our Dorman Days. It was an honor to sing in the chorus together with Marcus and to call him "brother". Praying for peace, comfort, rest and sweet remembrances for you and your family.

My deepest sympathy and prayers for peace for Marcus’ family. Marcus was a bear of a man with a huge heart. He always had a warm smile, a pat on back and that infectious laugh every time he saw you. I feel blessed to have had him for a friend. A respected fellow Realtor and a true patriot.

He was my best friend from Dorman High School. The expression on his face in this photograph was indicative of his countenance happy, jolly. We played baseball together. He was a catcher and I was a pitcher and he aggravated me in that capacity often. I ran into him occasionally over the years and he would hug me so hard he would lift me off my feet. My wife graduated with Marcus and when I saw him at the reunion we laughed for hours. He was a great Christian man whose friends were from every race and social class. People from all over the community will mourn the loss of my friend.
