John D. French

I'm sorry for your loss BJ and know you are missing him. I liked John and was happy you had found each other and love.

John was a friend and a great lawyer. He was a classmate of mine and a very good friend of my former colleague U.S. Circuit Judge Richard S Arnold of Little Rock. I know that lawyers everywhere will remember John with fondness. I send my sympathies and personal regards to his family.

John contributed very generously to the public good many ways. I remember him with respect and affection

I met John and BJ several years ago while working on their home. He was a most unusual guy. You could easily recognize his intellect and interest in all people. When he talked to you, you felt like you were the only person he wanted to talk with.

I am sorry to read of John's passing and extend my prayer's to BJ and his family. The world is a better place because of John French and will be a better place because of him.

A remarkable life and career. So sorry I cannot be there for service and the stories. All my best to BJ.

From the other side of the political fence - when we could always work together some way (long ago in Minnesota) - we miss you for your talents and abilities. A real privilege to have known you. God rest.

I was a young member of Trinity Church in Excelsior and knew John and his sister, and of course his father and mother. RIP.

Mr. French taught me the ins and outs of a then fairly raucous 13th Ward DFL. I was 18 and annoyingly eager. John couldn't have been more patient. With all of his Ivy education and success as an attorney, perhaps John French's most enduring legacy is that he was such a great guy.

My prayers to his family from me and my family, Pat and I went to school with John. My father was one his teachers

John French was a man of great noble spirit. His presence added charm and grace to any group where he paused to share thoughts, his views on serious divisive public policy issues enlightened parties in disagreement and helped to salve on the losing side of any courtroom division.

My sympathy goes to the family. My father, Lincoln Aldritt, admired John when John was in high school.

I am saddened to learn of John's death and extend sincere condolences to his family and to everyone who knew and loved him and followed his exemplary career.

I remember John from our undergraduate days at the University of Minnesota. He was active in student government, and I was a reporter for the Daily. He preceded me by a year or two as a member of Grey Friars, a senior men's honorary that no longer exists.

You touched so many lives and I will be forever greatful that you touched mine in so many meaningful ways. You made "Politics" a word to be proud of and a DFL Party a warm and wonderful place to call home. Thank you John. Irv

Keeping your family in prayer.

As a former law partner of John's, I had first-hand knowledge of his skills, leadership, mentoring, passion and civility. He was a wonderful human being.
