John Stanley Garton, 80, passed away in Clemson SC on April 10th 2024 with friends and family by his side. John was under the care of Via Hospice Care and the wonderful nursing staff of Clemson Downs.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John William and Virginia Dorthea Garton, and his loving wife of 58 years, Kathleen Lynn Garton. He is survived by his son Eric Garton with his wife Tara and children Jamie, Julianna and Jacob. His daughter Jessica Loukonen, with her husband Aaron and children Cecilia and Jack. His brother Tony Garton, with wife Sharon and son Brian.
John was a loving husband and father to family. He worked for Duke Power as a naturalist and conservationist for 28 years. He had a passion for all wildlife. He loved to share his knowledge with others and helped people understand why we should respect the natural resources around us. He was loved by many and the memories will continuously be shared by his friends and family.
John Garton’s ashes will be interred next to his wife at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte NC. Donations in his memory can be made to The Natural Conservancy.
