John Gately Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 26 to Jul. 3, 2010.
GATELY John (Sean) Curry, Athlone Died 4th July, 2009 John's wife Anne, children Mairead, Maeve and Eoin, mother Maisie, sisters Eilish, Rosaleen and Noeleen offer their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all those who helped, supported and sympathised with them on John's death. To those who called to our home and funeral home, who attended the funeral in such huge numbers, sent Mass cards, floral tributes and contacted us by telephone, we will always remember you. To our wonderful friends, relatives and neighbours who organised catering and parking and in countless ways made it possible to wake John at our home, we will be forever grateful. Thank you to Donal Hamrock of Hamrock Undertakers, Brideswell, and the gravediggers for helping us through this difficult time. Sincere thanks to the many sporting, business and community organisations in which John was involved in and those who formed guards of honour at the house, funeral home, church and graveyard. A special thanks to the three priests who concelebrated mass, Fr. Hugh Lee (St. Brigid's Church, Curraghboy), Canon Murray (St. Peter's Parish, Athlone) and Fr. Declan Shannon (St. Mary's Parish, Athlone) and all who helped make the funeral mass so meaningful. A heartfelt thank you to all in St. Hilda's Services and St. Hilda's Special School for the beautiful and touching memorial mass held in honour of John, we will always cherish this tribute. As it would be impossible to thank each person individually, we would like to ask that this acknowledgement be accepted as a token of our appreciation and gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the intentions of all. John was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, friend and work colleague whose humour and love lit up all our lives. Your sincere support to the family is testament to the high esteem he was held in by all who knew him. John's First Anniversary Mass is Saturday, 26th June, 2010, 8 p. m., St. Brigid's Church, Curraghboy, Athlone.
