I followed in Captain Gatton's footsteps at Appliance Park Security. John was a true leader, ever imparting his life's wisdom. Fair Winds, Captain.

Add humility to John's many qualities. I (representing Factory Mutual) and Capt. Wilber Mills (GE deceased) and then Capt. Jim Warner (GE ret) met with John many times; though he loved to talk other than shop, he withheld many of the interesting stories mentioned on the wonderful obit. I would love to have heard about flying under the bridge from him. John was always fair, open minded and gregarious; so while his body will return to dust, his spirit will live in his children, grandchildren and all of us who knew him. And we will be better for it. John, may you rest is peace.

Mike,
I'm very happy you were able to travel with your Dad and enjoy his life the way you did during his twilight years. Thanks for always being there for my parents too. Your Dad was very proud of you and I'm honored to know you both.
