John A. Gerry Sr.

WINTERPORT - John A. Gerry Sr., 83, of Winterport passed away September 12, 2015, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 10, 1932, in Dover-Foxcroft the son of Emery Gerry and Florence Gore.

John served his country in the U. S. Air Force from 1952-1956 and was stationed in Korea for one year. He made a career of autobody work, woodworking, helping people and was known throughout Winterport and the surrounding towns for his expertise in lawn mowers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Connie; a son John Gerry Jr. of Bangor, a daughter Margaret Carestia of MA, his devoted children, Sandra and Paul Kingsbury, Robin Gerry, Mike and Dawn Gerry; son-in-law Elmer Smith; sister Gladys McCann; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Bob, a daughter Susie Smith, and his dog Buffy. His family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Rocker and Sara Nason of Winterport Family Medicine.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave, Hampden, where funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, Sept 16.
