John Gianakopoulos

JOHN GIANAKOPOULOS John G. Gianakopoulos, 28, beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away Aug. 26, 2009. He was born Dec. 5, 1980, in Las Vegas, and was a lifetime resident. John was very proud of his Greek heritage and from an early age was actively involved in youth programs, folk dance groups and the Greek School at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. He attended Chaparral High School and UNLV. John was a hard working young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and was an accomplished musician, having mastered the art of the Greek bouzouki. John loved his family and cherished his friends. He was a kind, gentle and generous soul who will be greatly missed by so very many. John is survived by his mother, Dora Hart of Las Vegas; father, George Gianakopoulos of Sparta, Greece; his fiancée, Hilary Nall; grandfather, Anastasios Kouris; and stepfather, Russell Hart, all of Las Vegas; stepbrother, Bryan Hart of Salt Lake City; stepsisters, Amy Hart-Bon Frisco (Pete) of Manchester, Wash., and Angela Hart of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, with Trisagion service to follow. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, all at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 El Camino Road. Burial will be private.
