To my 2nd mom, brother and sisters

I can not tell you how much your family has been there for ours. You welcomed us into your home and loved us just as your own when we needed it. When we lost dad you were there. John was a great man and he has been there for so many people. I know he is in God's hands with family and friends and a good neighbor. Remember each day will get better.

With all our love,
Cliff Diane Sean and Kristen

What a gift you gave to the world, Mr. Gieseke, when you had your daughter Debbie. She is the kindest, sweetest, most wonderful friend with the best sense of humor ever. I know you and Bernice have everything to do with that. I will miss your calls to her during our morning coffee klatsch. Rest in peace.

WE REGRET TO HEAR OF JOHN'S PASSING, AND WE EXTEND OUR CONDOLENCES. IT IS
VERY HARD TO LET GO, BUT THERE IS COMFORT WITH OUR LORD AND SAVIOR.

My deepest sympathies to John's family. May the Lord give you and your family peace and comfort in your time of grief. It's hard for those left behind, but when the quality of life deteriorates it is often a welcome release for those who pass. May he rest in peace.

It was during the first year of my marriage to my best friend Butch when this happened. We were at his parents home (Irene and Newman Nelson) when I left Butch there to go shopping. It was winter with the normal snow and ice on the roads. When I pulled out of the drive I slipped the car into the ditch. Before I could open the door to get out of the car, a man on a tractor that was heading down the road was off his tractor and had hooked up our car and pulled the car out of the ditch. The man got back on his tractor and went down the road with only a hand wave. I was stunned. . .at the ease of this man who acted so quickly and then went on his way. When I later told this story to our family. . .they knew exactly who it was. . .it was John Gieseke. The Nelson Family always said what good people John and his brother were. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. The Nelsons. . .Butch and Joyce

My fondest childhood memories are of visits to my Grandpa and Grandma Leimkuhler, and every visit included a stop at the Giesekes down the road. As I grew up, my love, respect and admiration for Uncle John grew and grew. A hard working, dedicated union man, a loving family man, and a charming, witty, good-natured soul who loved life. A good life well lived, and a shining example for all of us.
