John Godzik Obituary
He was born in Rutland on October 4, 1925, the son of John and Karoline (Swierczak) Glodzik.
John was a graduate of West Rutland High School, class of 1943, and attended St. Michael's College.
He was a World War II, U. S. Navy Veteran, serving in France and the Philippines.
On May 26, 1986, he married Loretta (Jakubowski) Godzik at St. Stanislaus Church.
Mr. Godzik was employed at Howe Richardson Scale Co. until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and American Legion Post #87 of West Rutland.
Surviving are his wife Loretta of Rutland, a daughter Barbara Godzik of Fair Haven, a son Kenneth Godzik and his wife Judy of Rutland, granddaughter Cassandra Marie Godzik and fiance James Dziobek of Framingham, MA; grandsons Justin John Godzik and his wife Ashley of Rutland and Eric Charles Godzik of Rutland; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, the Rev. Joseph Godzik, Thomas Godzik, Taddeus Godzik, Walter Godzik and Edward Godzik; and sisters Genevieve Pokrywka, Mary Bys, Felicia Taran, Florence Pomykato and Emily Pokrywka.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in West Rutland. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
A reception will follow.
Contributions may be made to West Rutland American Legion Post #87.
