Janice Rogers
March 27, 2008
Hi JB, I'm sorry that you had to leave so suddenly. I will miss our visiting times together, the time you held a piece of plywood for me to cut it. You made me laugh. You always made things funny. I will always remember seeing you with my father. You were like brothers. Remember when I took the puppy to the vets for you. e was too uch for you to handle, so you gave him away.I know you are happy now with my father Johnny Rogers and don't forget his other half, BeBe. I am so glad that I had you in my life, Igot to know you more as an adult. I will miss visiting you. Say hello to my parents for me. Love you, Godchild-Janice

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow. I played Rugby with Billy for a lot of years and have and will be his friend for many to come. All the boys are with you and your family. Bobby J.

TO HIS FAMILY, MY CONDOLENCES ON YOUR LOSS. HE IS IN RESTFUL PEACE NOW PROTECTED UNDER GOD'S HEAVENLY UMBRELLA REUNITED WITH HIS LIFELONG FRIEND AND BANDMATE, JOHNNY ROGERS SR. A SHAME HOW HE DIED FOR A MAN OF HIS PROMINENCE AMONG THE CAPE VERDE COMMUNITY AND AS A RECOGNIZED AND TALENTED MUSICIAN DURING THE HEYDAYS OF THE 1940'S, 50'S 60'S AND 70'S EVEN AS "THEIR MUSIC" RESONATED INTO THE 80'S AND DWINDLED WITH AGE DURING THE 90'S. THE ECHOES OF "THEIR SOUND" WILL BE WITH ALL OF US FOREVER IN OUR MEMORIES. JOHN SR WAS A VITAL PART OF THOSE DAYS AND THE MUSIC. HIS DEATH WAS A TRAGEDY AND HE WILL BE FONDLY REMEMBERED BY ALL WHO HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO REALLY KNOW THE MAN AND HIS LEGACY.

IN MEMORY OF UNCLE JOHN: TO AUNT FLORI, FIRST COUSINS TONY, LOLITA, RICKY AND THEIR CHILDREN, MY HEARTFELT AND SINCEREST SYMPATHY TO ALL OF YOU. I HAVE THE FONDEST MEMORIES OF YOUR DAD AND HOW HE HUNG OUT WITH MINE DURING THEIR HEYDAYS. UNCLE JOHN HAD A GOLD TOOTH AND I COULD STILL SMELL HIS AFTERSHAVE WHILE HOLDING HIS DRINK IN HIS HAND AND THE TWO OF THEM TALKING ABOUT THEIR LOVE FOR THE MUSIC. THERE IS MUCH MORE THAT SHOULD'VE BEEN SAID ABOUT THIS MAN, YOUR DAD. IT IS ALL OF YOU WITH OUR SUPPORT THAT WILL SUSTAIN HIS DIGNITY THROUGH THIS TRYING TIME OF SORROW, HURT, AND PAIN. HE IS DESERVING OF THAT. I AM HERE FOR ALL OF YOU AND I OFFER MY SYMPATHY AND "MORE" (just ask) DURING THIS TIME OF UNEXPECTED LOSS AND TRAGEDY. THE STRONG FRIENDSHIP AND BOND THAT HE AND MY DAD HAD THROUGH THE YEARS WAS SOMETHING TO BE ADMIRED AND YOU COULD TELL THAT ONE WAS LOST WITHOUT THE OTHER. THEY'RE TOGETHER NOW AND MAY YOUR DAD FINALLY HAVE THE PEACEFUL REST HE NEEDED. TAKE COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT HE IS AMONGST FAMILY AND FRIENDS PROTECTED AND PROVIDED FOR IN "GOD'S HOUSE". LOVE, YOUR NIECE AND COUSIN.
