John and I were friends in 002 District. We shared lockers next to each other and had frequent talks on all manner of things. We worked together from 1996-2006. I was a young 24 year old officer. I have so many found memories of John. Something compelled me to look him up to see what he was up to and I discovered this unfortunate news. I left the job in 2004. I'll never forget what a gentleman John was. Peace, love and blessings to all of his loved ones!

Thinking of my Uncle John today and my cousins Lisa, John, and Christopher and Aunt Linda. My heart is very full with flashes of memories that were too brief but cherished for what they were. Most poignant is the time spent with Uncle J.P. on the day of my dad's (Thomas aka Tick) passing. My prayers for strength and love are sent across the miles to my family and I am praying always that Uncle J.P. will be eternally at peace...Serena

My sympathies to the Grooms family. When JP moved to Richmond to stay with Chester Grooms and Dorothy we became friends. He was always improving himself. He was a model for success. I did not see or contact JP from 1962 until 2006 forty four years and we talked for hours. Will always remember you.
