My deepest sympathy to Linda and the Hall family. I got to know John through the Allstate tennis league while we both were working for Allstate and beyond. He was such a nice man and had wicked serve with his height. I have fond memories of John for the 30+ years I knew him.

As a member of the Northbrook Racquet Club, John's contributions and achievements stand out prominently within our group. Let's highlight some of his remarkable accomplishments:
Exemplary Sportsmanship: John set a high standard for sportsmanship, demonstrating what it means to be a gracious loser. His willingness to shake hands and congratulate opponents, especially in doubles matches, showcased his respect for the game and his fellow players. His attitude undoubtedly influenced others within the group, fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere on and off the court.
Inspiring Confidence: As a playing partner, John had a unique ability to instill confidence in his teammates. Knowing that John was by their side gave players the assurance that they had a chance to win, motivating them to perform at their best. His support and encouragement undoubtedly contributed to the success of many matches and seasons.
Active Engagement: John's involvement in the group extended beyond his performance on the court. He played a crucial role as an organizer, serving in various capacities over the seasons. Whether elected as Chief Racqueteer, voted to be Subaroo, or volunteering to bring in refreshments, John consistently contributed to the smooth operation and camaraderie of the group.
Outstanding Performance: John's stat line speaks volumes about his skill and dedication to the game. His magical year in the 2008-2009 season, where he compiled a perfect win-loss record, showcases his talent and commitment to excellence. Such achievements not only reflect his individual prowess but also inspire and motivate others to strive for their best.
Commitment to Improvement: On Friday nights, you could usually find John at the Northbrook Racquet Club, diligently perfecting his serve. His dedication to practice and self-improvement exemplifies his passion for the sport and his desire to continually grow as a player.
Enjoying Life with Friends: Beyond the competition, John valued the camaraderie and friendships forged through tennis. After matches, he would often catch up with friends, enjoying the company and celebrating both victories and lessons learned. His ability to find joy in the shared experience of tennis further enriched the group dynamic.
In summary, John's impact on our tennis group goes far beyond his performance on the court. His sportsmanship, leadership, dedication, and camaraderie have left an indelible mark on our club, inspiring us all to strive for excellence both in tennis and in life.

John was deeply loved and respected by his family and in return he loved them back just as much. You could feel this when you saw him with his loved ones.

When he heard stories of John watching Lauren playing tennis we were surprised to hear stories of his competitive drive!

We didn´t have enough time to spend with John. We knew John as a gentle, loving caring father and grandfather that he was. We will help keep his memory alive through Linda, Chris and Lauren with stories for his grandchildren. He will be terribly missed.
