HARDING _ John Henry 1921 - 2002 John Henry Harding, beloved husband of Mrs. Anne Harding of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at the age of 80 years with all his family at his side. John was born on December 15, 1921 in Lougheed, AB. He taught school for one year before joining the Air Force in 1940. He served as a flight instructor during the war and transferred to the Army in mid-1945. Following the war, John received his Bachelor's degree in Honours Physics at the University of Alberta graduating in 1949 and worked in the oil and gas industry for places such as Western Geophysical, Amoco Canada, Angus Exploration, Canadian Occidental and Harding Exploration for fifty years until his retirement in 2001. John served his community as President of the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists, President of Alberta Pioneer Auto Club and President of the Stampede City Gyro Club. He had many interests which included antique cars, woodworking and restoring small engines in his workshop and enjoyed his favorite lifestyle at the family cottage in Sylvan Lake. John is survived by his wife Anne; children, Philip Harding (Nancy), Lisa Richards (Alan) and Ian Harding; stepchildren, Cathy Gilbert and Karen Robinson; also six grandchildren, Carla, Trevor, Sean, Tommy, Laura and Tracey. He is also survived by a sister Vivian Stogsdill; a sister-in-law Maxine Fisher (Tony); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Charles Harding, his brother David, and Philip, Lisa and Ian's mother Anne.
