He was a wonderful man and a great Dr.

i remember working with Dr. Harsch almost 20 years ago when he helped select and implement an electronic medical record system for the practice. He was a pleasure to work with and had such a positive and innovative approach and embraced being an early adopter of technology. Very sorry to hear about his passing, he left a lasting impression on others who had the privilege of working with him and the memories are still intact today.

I'm still stunned by Dr. Harsch's death. Last November was my 12th consecutive annual checkup with him. That's not so long compared to others who have made entries here, but it seems like I've been going to him forever. I came to trust his knowledge and judgment. I was confident and secure knowing if I had a health concern I could go to Dr. Harsch and he'd know what to do. How sad that I and his other patients have lost that. I know there are other good doctors, but finding one and establishing a history with them is not easy. It is a tragedy the world has lost someone with his knowledge and experience, and his ability to use it to help others. I always enjoyed hearing him and the other doctors and staff discuss topics at their health fair; it has become a rite of Fall for me. My condolences to his family and colleagues.

I was one of his early patients. I remember the Riverdale office first had lawn chairs and TV trays as exam room equipment. Since moving out of state, I have not been to their office but his and Dr. Osborne's bedside manner has always been the gold standard measure for all other healthcare providers. Dr. Harsch always credited his parents for setting the example for how to treat patients. They raised a fine son.

I was so sad to hear about John. When John and Mary came to Aiken, SC last summer I ran into him at the pub. I was friends with his brother Alan since 4th grade and through high school. I am a cyclist like John was. I felt so lucky to have met him that night. I want to offer my sincerest condolences. I still feel lucky that I got to catch up with him that one night.

John was a good and loyal friend through med school and residency. Our 7 years of playing soccer together in St. Louis were one of the high lights of my weeks. I always appreciated his positive attitude through everything. Even though I have not kept up on writing, he has been in my thoughts as my own children took up soccer. He will be missed.

My condolences to the wife, family, associates and friends of Dr Harsch. I cannot say anything that glorifies the type of person Dr Harsch was that hasn't been said. I became a patient of his around 25 years ago. I have trusted and depended on him for my health needs and comfort that he has assisted me in. Thank God I was lead to him for my needs. He was my doctor and friend that I will always cherish and due to the respect his practice has provided I had no problem being accepted by one of his co-physician in he office hopefully to assist me during my remainder of time. A great loss that no one is prepared for, but one knows will come in time.

You will be missed

I met John Harsch years ago when he was a Commissioner with the Clayton County Commission on Children and Youth and I was a volunteer. Quickly becoming impressed with his character and compassion and having been notified that my family doctor was no longer a preferred provider, I decided to switch my healthcare to Dr. Harsch. I never regretted my decision and John has been my primary doctor since then. When blood tests indicated I might have cancer, John called me at home after hours to break the news. He was as hesitant and reluctant to share the news as I was to receive it. Even though I went under the care of a specialist, John wasn't happy with the diagnosis of possible multiple melanoma. He eventually called again to tell me that he had been studying and that there was another possibility for my elevated levels. Long-story short, I was referred to yet another specialist, a different diagnosis was confirmed, a parathyroidectomy was performed and the problem solved, all thanks to John's persistence on behalf of his patient.

I will miss John's ready smile, his hugs, and trading stories of our mission trips. (I will be forever grateful for the hug received in January.) Along with so many others, I have lost not only my doctor, but my friend.

My heart goes out to the family of Dr.Harsch. I have had the pleasure to witness his work ethic and patient care working at the Hands of Hope Clinic for the past 6 years. Some people may not know but Dr.Harsch would volunteer at the Hands of Hope Clinic once a month after a long day at his regular practice, show up at 6 pm and see how ever many patients we scheduled for him, he never complained, sometimes staying as late as 10:30 in the evening. One evening, after all the patients and providers had left, myself and a nurse had cleaned up and did the end of day paperwork,we headed to our cars,and saw an extra car in the parking lot curious as to whom it could belong to so late at night, then comes Dr.Harsch, we asked where he had been and he replied "checking on a patient I sent to E.R. tonight". To say that Dr.Harsch went the extra mile would be an understatement! He will be greatly missed by alot of people.

Mary Carol and Harsch family: even though I did not know your wonderful John well, his "halo" was so obvious and present the times we were all together at various horse trials...and especially during this past Easter weekend when you were celebrating his 59th birthday. What a life and lover of life: just simply a beautiful person and doctor and husband! We grieve with you with such a sudden tragic accident to have him leave this Earth so soon. ;(

In my experience, it's hard to find a good doctor that you really like, and I found that in Dr. Harsch. He was such a good, genuine, caring man. We've lost a good one.

My condolences to Mrs. Harsh and the extended family for the tragic loss of a fine man and a great and caring Doctor. We started as patients of Dr. Harsh in Forest Park many years ago, as the years went by we gradually left for various reasons, but my two sons remained patients of his, then one left and that left David Shelby as his only remaining patient. We were heartbroken to hear the news because even though most of us had moved on, we still thought of him as our original "family doctor". Our Dad recently had an event (Stroke later determined by Dr. John) which resulted in his memory being scrambled. Dr. John has been his Primary Care Physician for over 20 years. Dr. John was so caring and wonderful to our Dad, he shared about his Dad, Orville, and the sadness he felt over a similar experience with him. Our Dad no longer even re-
cognized Dr. John and I could see the alarm on his face when he first talked to our Dad. He ordered immediate tests and scans to determine what had actually taken place and to keep another "surprise" event from leaving him in even worse condition. We Saw Dr. John quite recently and on this day
Dad Recognized Dr. John. Dr. John Spread out his arms, stood up and said, "Joe, you know me !!? You Know Me " ! ! (He reminded me of the Scene in "Its a Wonderful Life"; where Bert Finds George Bailey on the snowy bridge;
George throws out his arms in Glee... "Bert,You Know Me ! You Know Me" Today I picture you Dr. John walking the streets of Gold in Heaven with your Dad and HE Also KNOWS YOU. When the decision had to be made to put him in hospice, Dr. Harsch took us aside and put his arms around us and told us everything that could be done was done and he prayed the sweetest prayer with us. It was such a comforting time and blessing to us all. He truly loved all of his patients and always had their best interest at heart.

Dr. Harsch was my choice of family doctors after Becky and I moved to McDonoudh in 2012. We left after we needed Drs closer to home. I spoke to Dr Harsch at Dr Dix's offine on the 17th of March. He was so filled with the joy of life.

We have known Dr. Harsch since moving to the area 6 years ago as he cared for our family members. Likewise, he and his practice care for us and became our family physicians. I then had the privilege of knowing him as he consistently and lovingly volunteered at the Hands of Hope Clinic where I work. He always thought first and foremost of patients, cared for each and every as though his own family- never minced words in providing the best care to them and always entered a room full of energy, optimism, care, concern, and joyful kindness. I enjoyed talking to him about his bike riding around the area. He came by our house several times riding at the end of South Hampton Road, Hampton, GA. He cared so deeply for my husband when he had his heart attack this past October. Such a caring and loving DOCTOR. He will be truly missed by us and I am not sure anyone can replace him.
