John Stuart Harvey, or Stewart as he preferred to be called by his nickname, was my Father in Law. Besides economics and politics we would occasionally discuss music. We shared a common affinity for pipe organ music and anything bizarre. As a retired commercial pilot who now produces electronic music, I asked him once to critique some of my songs. He did so with the attention to detail that he often gives to whatever he decides to do, which I appreciated. We even marched together as minutemen in parades. He will be missed.

Stewart was a key early mentor of mine in the investment world. We also shared a deep love of mountains and skiing. I wish I had been able to say goodbye to a thoroughly decent man

I have many fond memories of my time with Mr Harvey and his daughter Rebecca when I was a young child. It's hard to keep them in order because there were tons of great and fun experiences. One of the most memorable activities was the fox hunts in Pepperell, Massachusetts, during the fall hunting season. We would load up the ponies and head off for an adventure. Mr Harvey was always up for a good time, but he was also responsible and made sure we were safe. I recall many hikes and ski trips with the Harveys, and Mr Harvey always kept us in line. He didn't tolerate slackers or any messing about. Unfortunately, I lost touch with Mr Harvey and his family when Rebecca and I grew up and went on with our lives. However, we reconnected on Facebook, and we've been in touch for over a decade now. We laugh about our shared stories, and no time has passed. Mr Harvey's children have grown up to be highly successful adults, and his wife, Cynthia, is a beautiful and strong woman. They were a vital part of my young life, and Mr Harvey taught me many things. He is missed, and I send my love and hugs to the Harvey family.
