Arnaudville - Funeral services will be held Monday, December 17, 2018 at a 2:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for John Earl Hebert, age 78, who passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder will officiate at the services.

Mr. Hebert was a native of Arnaudville and a resident of Lafayette since 1967. He was employed with Trappey's Cannery, Bell Construction, Derby Reality and recently retired from the Lafayette Parish Consolidated Government in Community Development as a carpenter after twenty-two years and seven months. He worked endlessly and in his spare time, continued doing any form of carpentry work from floors to roofs. He also enjoyed gardening and tending his orchard. A veteran of the military, he proudly served his country in the United States Marines. Being a veteran, he would always say "once a Marine, always a Marine." Mr. Hebert loved his grandchildren very much and made time to attended any event they participated in. He was a parishioner of St. Basil Catholic Church and also attended St. Jules Catholic Church and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include his devoted wife of fifty-five years, Madeline Kidder Hebert of Duson; one son, Richard Charles Hebert of Duson; three daughters, Nanette Reiners and her husband, John, of Branch, Dana Marie Roger and her husband, Allan, and Nicole Lee Payne and her husband, Roy, all of Lafayette; his twin brother, Ervin Hebert of Arnaudville; two sisters, Bernadine Nezat of Port Barre and Norma Gene Robicheaux and her husband, Steve, of Breaux Bridge; seven grandchildren, Bradley Paul Reiners and his wife, Lauren, Callie Monique Reiners, Dustin Michael Reiners, Elyse Andre Hebert, Brooke Lauren Hebert, Olivia Maria Payne and Gabriella "Gabby" Claire Payne; and two great grandchildren, Wesley Reiners and Cooper Reiners.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilfred Jean Hebert and the former Earline Theresa Castille; two brothers-in-law, Donald Nezat and Ronnie Roberthon; one sister, Veronica Vickie Whaley; and one sister-in-law, Norma Hebert.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jason Breaux, Jill Hill, Dr. Samuel Schufler, Dr. Michael Alexander, Dr. Ernest Kinchen, Dr. Victor Tedesco and the staff of St. Joseph Hospice and Lafayette General Medical Center. Heartfelt thanks goes to his Guardian Angel, Charlene Richard for her continued guidance throughout Mr. Hebert's life.

Pallbearers will be Richard Hebert, John Reiners, Allan Roger, Roy Payne, Bradley Reiners and Dusin Reiners. Honorary pallbearers will be Ervin Hebert, Ronnie Kidder and LeRoy Kidder.
